As no one in our group is quite sure what kind of photographs we want to display, it has been a tricky start. Deciding on the venue, the publicity and how we want to exhibit our work is a difficult decision, and therefore this week is just for thinking of ideas. The image to the right, is a mind map of what we have been talking about. We are all looking at different venues, as well as contacting them, to get an idea of what we are able to achieve.
We have also started looking into abandoned buildings and whether we should exhibit there. We have managed to find an building on commercial road that is currently empty. Another place we have found is on Albert Road (picture right). It looks like a small open area with white walls and a wooden floor. It also has two doors that lead further into the building. Perhaps this location would be worth phoning! It has large window in which we could exhibit some work for people passing by to look at. This could spark their interest and they might come in.
As well as looking at rather obvious places to display our work I also wanted to look at different ideas that might be more expensive but would definitely be worth it. First I decided to look at the spinnaker tower. Apparently it is quite a popular venue to hire for corporate or private events:
Although I do think £1,020 is too expensive for us students. The Spinnaker Tower makes a stunning venue for corporate or private events, offering your guests unrivalled views over Portsmouth harbour and the south coast. We can host anything from private dining for 90 people to champagne and canapĂ© receptions for 150 people, so whether you need a venue for a birthday party, awards ceremony, wedding reception or corporate dinner, we can create the perfect event guaranteed to impress your guests.
